There are many ways to repair the carpet patch. In a few steps, we will explain how to repair the carpet using an adhesive disk.
If you still have time to learn how to repair a carpet patch, then lets do it. First, you will need some tools:
- Measure tape
- Tape
- Carpet knife
- Pencil
- Piece of the carpet to replace.
- Carpet glue
- Agitator or brush
- Adhesive Disks
Step 1: Using the measurement tape.
Measure the area of the carpet to repair using the measurement tape. You will identify the size of the area to extract. Make sure it is rectangular or square to ease the cutting.
Step 2: Create a form around the area of the carpet to repair.
Tape the area of the carpet to be removed; this area should be rectangular or square form. Measure the tape to make sure it matches the previous dimension you took, and then use the pencil to mark the area to cut.
Step 3: Right way to cut the carpet during repair.
Using the carpet knife, you will gently cut the edge of the measured area of the carpet. Follow the line you have previously drawn on your carpet with your pencil.
Do not apply too much pressure during the cutting of the carpet. The pressure should be just enough not damaging the layer of the padding. After the cutting of the carpet, remove that section of the carpet from the surface.
Step 4: Delimitation of the carpet patch
Turn the face of the carpet down to measure and cut the replacement carpet patch. Use your pencil to define the limit of the replacement carpet patch. Make sure the measure of the carpet patch is identical to the measure of the carpet removed earlier. Also, make sure, the carpet patch exactly fits the inside of the tape on the floor. And then, use the carpet knife to cut the limit of the carpet patch.
Step 5: Proper use of adhesive disk on the carpeting hole
Put a small amount of water on the adhesive disks; then place it in the carpeting hole. Make sure it covers the side of the carpeting hole and insert the delimited area underneath the carpet.
- It is important that the adhesive disks larger than the replacement carpet patch.
- Apply the adhesive disk facing upward.
Step 6: Connecting the adhesive disk to the carpeting hole.
Wait about 5 minutes before applying the pressure to the edge of the carpeting hole to secure the area connected to the adhesive disk and the rest of the carpet.
Step 7: Testing the dimension of the carpet patching.
Test the dimension of the carpet patch to the carpeting hole to make sure it matches. Then, apply the glue to the carpet patch and the edge of the adhesive disk.
Step 8: Connecting the dote
Check the direction of the fabric on the carpet patch matching the carpeting hole. Place the carpet patch into the hole, then slightly press the carpet to allow all areas of the carpet to connect with the adhesive disk and the underlying tape. You will have between 12 to 15 minutes before the glue stick, so you must be fast.
Step 9: Cleaning the carpet after repair.
Use the carpet brush to smoothly brush off the surface of the carpet patching area in the same direction as the rest of the carpeting pile. You can also use the agitator to vacuum the area.
